Architecture in Accord with Natural Law

This page used to be part of my personal contribution to the Sidhadorp site. The "Sidhadorp", or Sidha Village, is a part of the city of Lelystad in the Netherlands where, practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi program live, work and meditate together.

Maharishi Sthapatya Veda (MSV)


For basic information about Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, look at the Maharishi Global Construction site. It contains a FAQ, background information on MSV, what it can bring to you, and several pictures of buildings designed according to the principles of MSV. It also shows the new building in Vlodrop, The Netherlands, where Maharishi Mahesh Yogi lives.

The following comes from a documentary on Dutch television, "Ooggetuige". Eike Hartmann showed the newly built home of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and explained the importance of right orientation of a building.

According to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, orientation of the entrance on different directions has the following effects:


Effects of Directions
EEnlightenment, Affluence, Fulfilment
SEConstant Fear
SAll Negative Influences, Destruction - Problems and Suffering
SWAlways Quarrel
WPoverty, Lack of Creativity and Vitality
NWInconsistent and Mentally Shaken
NProsperity, Happiness (good health and wealth)
NENo Marriage, No Children

Only orientation on the East, or North as second best, is considered auspicious. The direction you absolutely wish to avoid is the South. Of course many other influences contribute to "proper Vastu". Among them are the slope of the land and location of a body of water.

Lelystad

In the Sidhadorp in Lelystad, The Netherlands, a work-study group on Sthapatya Veda is formed that will gather more book titles and information, and eventually wants to build an ideal village. If you live nearby, you're invited to join us.

UPDATE September 1999: The study group transformed itself into a group that is now planning to build a group of houses according to Maharishi Sthapatya Veda close to the Sidhadorp.
